Pacific University’s Pacific Institute of Fire and Safety Management Organizes Road Safety Awareness Seminar

Pacific Institute of Fire and Safety Management, under Pacific University, recently organized a significant awareness seminar on “Road Safety.” The program aimed to increase awareness among students and citizens about road safety and emphasize the importance of following traffic rules.
The event was graced by Shri Narayan Chaudhary (Aadhar Foundation, Udaipur), Shri Sunil Charan (Circle Inspector, Udaipur), and Shri N.M. Gulzar (Additional RTO) as chief guests. Faculty members including Prof. T.P. Ameta, Prof. Dipin Mathur, and Dr. Pushpa Mendu were also present. The seminar began with a ceremonial lamp lighting before Maa Saraswati.
Dr. Mukesh Shrimali, Director of the institute, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of road safety in today’s times. He encouraged students to understand traffic rules and adhere to them diligently. Professor Hemant Kothari, President of Pacific University, addressed the students, emphasizing the need for alertness, discipline, and responsibility while driving.
Shri Narayan Chaudhary, the chief guest, stated that road safety is not only the responsibility of authorities but a duty of every citizen. He emphasized that personal awareness and discipline are the most effective tools to prevent accidents. He also introduced the new smart traffic system, explaining that high-resolution cameras installed at major city intersections can instantly detect violations like over-speeding, red-light jumping, and not wearing helmets.
Circle Inspector Shri Sunil Charan highlighted the proper use of road infrastructure, adherence to lane discipline, and respect for traffic rules. He presented videos of road accidents to make students aware of the consequences of negligence. He particularly emphasized the importance of helmets and seat belts, explaining that wearing a helmet alone is insufficient—it must be strapped properly. He also noted that car airbags function effectively only when seat belts are fastened, as the airbag sensor is linked to the seat belt.
Additional RTO Shri N.M. Gulzar stated that even minor precautions by citizens can significantly reduce accidents. He appealed to parents not to hand over vehicles to children prematurely, warning that such negligence can be a punishable offense. He stressed that proper use of safety equipment is key to saving lives during accidents.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Amos Mark, and the program was effectively conducted by Mrs. Kripa Jain. A large number of students and faculty participated, taking a pledge to remain vigilant and promote road safety awareness.
