Udaipur: More than 115 chess players from Udaipur and across Rajasthan participated in the International Chess Day Lakecity Open July Rapid Chess Tournament 2026, organised by Castle Chess Academy at St. Anthony’s School, Sector 4. The event was held with technical support from CIL International School of Chess, Ryan Chess Academy, CIL Gurukul Chess Workshop, Chess in Lakecity, and other partner institutions.
The tournament featured three categories—Group A (Under-5, Under-7, Under-9), Group B (Under-11, Under-13), and Group C (Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, and Senior). International Arbiter and internationally rated player Rajendra Teli, the chief guest at the closing ceremony, said regular participation in tournaments helps young players develop confidence and sharpen their competitive skills.
The overall champions were Aayansh Dalal (Group A), Prakhar Chandwani (Group B), and Priyanshu Nayak (Group C). Winners received cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, while all other participants were honoured with consolation medals to encourage sportsmanship and continued participation.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter Nilesh Kumawat, assisted by FIDE Arbiter Bhavesh Pandiyar and a team of officials. Organising Secretary Vikas Sahu thanked the players, parents, arbiters, and supporters, expressing confidence that such events would continue to nurture young chess talent and prepare them for success at state, national, and international levels.
