Rajendra Meena Awarded PhD by Kota University; Research on Medicinal Plant May Aid Future Drug Development

Kota: Dr. Rajendra Meena, Assistant Professor of Botany at Government College, Baran, has been awarded a PhD by the University of Kota. He completed his doctoral research at JDB Girls College, Kota, under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Alpana Johri.

According to his father, Ramkhiladi Meena, Dr. Meena is a native of Jiwali village in Sawai Madhopur district. He completed his education, from primary school to higher studies, in Kota.

Dr. Meena's research focused on identifying and analyzing the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of Oxystelma esculentum, a medicinal plant belonging to the Apocynaceae family. The climbing plant is naturally found across India and several regions of South and Southeast Asia, particularly in marshlands, along riverbanks, in moist soil, and in coastal areas.

The findings of the study are expected to contribute significantly to medicinal research and may provide a scientific foundation for the development of new therapeutic drugs for the treatment of various diseases.

Dr. Meena's achievement has been widely appreciated by academicians, colleagues, family members, and well-wishers, who congratulated him and wished him continued success in his academic and research career.
