**Udaipur:** On the fifth day of World Breastfeeding Week, organized jointly by Rotary Club Udaipur, Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, and IAP Udaipur Branch, Dr. Devendra Sareen, Head of the Pediatrics Department, emphasized that mothers should ensure breastfeeding their newborns at night as well. Today, members of the Inner Wheel Club Divas participated in the event.
Dr. Sareen, the keynote speaker at a seminar held in the maternity ward of Geetanjali Hospital, addressed lactating mothers, explaining that nighttime breastfeeding significantly increases maternal milk secretion due to prolactin hormones. Therefore, every mother should breastfeed her newborn even at night.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Rekha Bhanawat, Founder President of Inner Wheel Club Divas, highlighting the importance of breastfeeding. Nayana Jain, President of Inner Wheel Club Divas, conducted the program. Other speakers included Dr. Sushma Mogri, who emphasized the need for nutritious food for lactating mothers, and Dr. Sushil Gupta, who stressed the importance of breastfeeding newborns immediately after birth. Dr. Ramkesh advocated for breastfeeding the infant every two to three hours.
Samiksha Khandelwal, Vice President of Inner Wheel Club Divas, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by notable members of Inner Wheel Divas including Shashi Mehta, Lalita Bapna, Neena Patel, Dr. Sukh Anwar, Dr. Lakshmi, Dr. Pankhuri, and Dr. Mudit. Tomorrow at 11:30 AM, a seminar will be held at Sanskrit Higher Secondary School, Pratapnagar, for school girls.
