Udaipur: Under the campaigns “Cyber Shield” and “Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan – Towards a Safe Journey,” the Udaipur Range Police organized a range-level workshop on cybercrime prevention, road safety, and traffic management on Thursday at the Police Lines auditorium in Udaipur. The workshop was conducted jointly by Udaipur Range Police and UNICEF Rajasthan. Inspector General of Police, Udaipur Range, Gaurav Srivastava attended as the chief guest, while Additional Superintendent of Police Harsh Ratnu presided over the event.

IG Srivastava, while sharing details of this innovative initiative, said that just as people adapted their lifestyles and showed awareness during the COVID-19 pandemic, similar awareness and behavioral changes are essential to prevent cybercrime and road accidents. He emphasized that awareness is the best form of protection and urged citizens to strictly follow rules for their own safety.

Highlighting the rising trend of cybercrime, he stressed the need for vigilance among the public. Through the “Cyber Shield” campaign, detailed information was provided on digital safety, protection from online fraud, and safe internet usage. Under the “Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan,” special emphasis was placed on following traffic rules, mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and promoting responsible road behavior.

He described the campaign as a people’s movement and called for active participation from all sections of society. Information was also shared about an online quiz format developed under the campaign. Participants completing the quiz will receive certificates signed by the respective district Superintendents of Police. The initiative aims to involve students, police volunteers, “Suraksha Sakhis,” Youth CLG members, and citizens from all walks of life to help curb cybercrime and reduce road accidents.

IG Srivastava urged people to follow rules not to avoid the police, but to ensure their own safety. He also appealed to media representatives present at the workshop to actively support and promote this awareness campaign among the public.

In his presidential address, ASP Harsh Ratnu stated that such workshops play an important role in increasing awareness about safety in society. He encouraged participants to stay informed and spread awareness among others, ensuring active participation in the campaign’s effective implementation.

Sindhu Binujeet, State Child Protection Consultant with UNICEF Rajasthan, explained in detail the digital links developed for both campaigns through a presentation. She also elaborated on the technical aspects of the online quiz and the issuance of certificates upon completion.

During the workshop, police officials, staff members, and media representatives filled out the campaign links and pledged to promote awareness about cybercrime prevention and safe traffic practices. Technical support for the event was provided by Dr. Chintal Patel of Geetanjali Institute, while cyber cell representative Kherol Wasim shared insights on technical aspects.
