Udaipur: On the occasion of International Girl Child Day, an inspiring and historic decision has emerged from Udaipur district. The marriage of a 15-year-old girl, Asha (name changed), has been officially annulled by the Family Court, Udaipur, following a long campaign by the Gayatri Seva Sansthan, Udaipur.

Marking this occasion, the Sansthan has launched a special intensive campaign against child marriage, which will run until 26 January 2026, in collaboration with the district administration and Legal Services Authority.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shailendra Pandya, Director of Gayatri Seva Sansthan and Child Rights Expert, said that the organization is an affiliate of Just Rights for Children (JRC), one of the largest networks working towards a child marriage-free India. With the support of government and administration, the network has successfully prevented over four lakh child marriages across the country in the past two years.

Dr. Pandya added that the upcoming campaign will focus on awareness at the community level, involving religious leaders and social activists, and strict action will be taken wherever child marriage cases are reported.

Nitin Paliwal, District Coordinator of the Sansthan, informed that under the campaign, activities were organized in Bhesda Khurd Gram Panchayat, Kheroda Gram Panchayat, and Jhadol Panchayat Samiti. These included school pledges, awareness rallies, and community programs to educate society about the adverse consequences of child marriage.

The programs were attended by local representatives of Gram Panchayats, school teachers, girls, and members of Gayatri Seva Sansthan including Vivek Paliwal, Mukesh Kulambi, and Surajmal Menaria.
