Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, national pride and a renewed commitment to the responsibilities that come with freedom. The celebrations commenced with the Guard of Honour presented by the NCC cadets to Hon’ble President Dr. Sanjay Sinha, FRSA, followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony. Welcoming the gathering, the Proctor of SPSU, Dr. Anandkumar Atalbihari Bhaskar, highlighted the significance of Independence Day and emphasised the responsibility of the younger generation in contributing to a technologically advanced, innovative, sustainable, inclusive and self-reliant India. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjay Sinha reflected on India’s difficult journey, both before and after Independence. He recalled the challenges of the early years, including food scarcity, and highlighted the transformative contribution of agricultural innovation and the Green Revolution towards achieving food security. He emphasised that India’s progress has been driven by resilience, scientific endeavour and collective determination. Calling upon the youth to carry this legacy forward, Dr. Sinha urged students to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat through excellence, innovation, discipline, integrity and leadership. He stressed the immense role of youth in nation-building and urged them to develop strong character, use their knowledge for the larger good of society, and shoulder the responsibility of protecting and strengthening the nation. He emphasised that India’s future depends on a shared national vision and the commitment of its young citizens. The programme was enriched by patriotic and cultural performances by Ms. Himanshi Rathore, Mr. Chakra and Ms. Danisha. The Certificate Distribution Ceremony felicitated students, faculty and staff for their achievements, dedication and valuable contributions. The celebrations concluded with the “Har Ghar Tiranga” Rally led by NCC cadets, reinforcing the message of patriotism, national unity and respect for the Tricolour. The celebration was successfully coordinated Deputy Dean Student Welfare Lt. (Dr.) D.S. Chouhan. The participation of Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Dy. Deans, faculty members, students and the entire SPSU fraternity made the occasion truly memorable.
