Udaipur, The Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) organised an awareness and interactive seminar on the Manufacturing and Other Operations in Warehouse Regulations (MOOWR) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the UCCI Bhawan here on Saturday. Sanjay Gupta, a retired Indian Revenue Service officer and former CGST and Customs official, who is also founder of Precise GST & Customs Solutions, was the subject expert at the session. Welcoming the participants and the expert, UCCI president Sandeep Bapna briefly outlined the chamber's activities and highlighted the objectives of the programme. He said the interactive session was aimed at helping members of the trade and industry understand key provisions, compliance requirements and opportunities under MOOWR and GST so that they could make better financial and operational decisions. Honorary Secretary Ashish Singh Chhabra introduced Gupta to the participants. Gupta said the session was intended to help entrepreneurs and businesses understand taxation provisions and ensure proper compliance, enabling them to conduct business with greater confidence and fewer compliance-related concerns. He gave a detailed presentation on MOOWR and described the framework as a significant opportunity for industries, particularly in the context of the Make in India initiative and customs clearance. He also explained the facilities and procedures available under MOOWR and discussed their practical benefits for businesses, including their potential role in strategic working-capital management. During the GST awareness session, Gupta discussed several key areas, including GST audit, refunds, investigations and litigation. He also highlighted precautions that industries should take while complying with GST provisions. Participants raised several questions during the interactive session, which were addressed in detail by Gupta. A large number of directors, managers, finance controllers and entrepreneurs from industrial establishments and businesses across Udaipur attended the programme. The session was conducted by Honorary Secretary Ashish Singh Chhabra, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
