Udaipur: Internationally recognised goldsmith and 211-time world record holder Professor Dr. Iqbal Sakka has created another remarkable miniature artwork, marking the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Dr. Sakka has crafted what he describes as the world’s smallest models of Mecca and Medina, each measuring just 1 millimetre, approximately the size of a mung bean. The intricate creations can only be properly viewed with the help of a magnifying lens.
The miniature Kaaba has been crafted in gold, complete with minarets and a gold door. Dr. Sakka has placed the Kaaba on black velvet and decorated it with a specially designed black covering to replicate the appearance of the Kaaba Sharif.
According to Dr. Sakka, the eastern wall of the Kaaba’s door features the Hajr-e-Aswad, or Black Stone, set within a silver frame. Inspired by this, he created a miniature silver door and carefully cut and set a tiny stone brought from Saudi Arabia within a silver frame. The stone is visible only through a lens.
He has also created a 1-millimetre model of Medina, featuring minarets, a green dome and a tiny window above the Gumbad-e-Khizra, giving the miniature an intricate resemblance to Madina Munawwara when viewed through a lens.
The artwork also depicts the Saudi Arabian national flag, bearing the Arabic inscription “La ilaha illallah,” alongside the Indian tricolour, symbolising the bond between the two countries.
Dr. Sakka wishes to present these unique creations to Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on behalf of the people of India. He has written to the Saudi Ambassador in New Delhi regarding the proposed presentation and has also sent a letter to Mohammed bin Salman.
Dr. Sakka said the silver models of Mecca and Medina took seven days to create and involved approximately 2 grams of silver and 100 milligrams of gold.
