Udaipur: The city is set to host a unique celebration of climate action, sustainability and community participation with the ‘Climate Chakrview Festival 2026’ on September 26 and 27. The two-day festival will bring together more than 60 activities aimed at encouraging practical approaches to environmental conservation.

Organised by Community The Youth Collective and Vartaliap, with support from Rainmatter Foundation, the festival will be centred at Vidya Bhawan, with activities also being held at 13 other locations across Udaipur. More than 1,000 participants have already registered free of cost for the event.

Pratibha Pathak said the festival would offer participants an opportunity to explore practical solutions to environmental challenges through more than 60 interactive activities. Climate experts, young social entrepreneurs, artists and climate activists from across the country will participate and engage with visitors.

The festival’s programme has been developed collectively by more than 150 young people, social entrepreneurs, artists and climate practitioners from across India, giving the event a strong community-led approach.

Inspired by the concept of the Chakrview from the Mahabharata, the festival seeks to highlight the interconnected nature of climate, social and economic challenges and promote the idea of finding collective solutions.

Among the major attractions will be Bird Walks, Night Nature Exploration, Barefoot Trail, Sounds of Nature and Aravalli Haat. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn from local artisans and make traditional pattal-dona and seed jewellery.

The festival will further focus on reuse and repair through activities such as ‘Jugaad Garage’, where discarded bottles will be transformed into useful products, and the ‘Repair Café’, where participants can learn about repairing old electronics, bicycles and clothes.

Visitors will also get an opportunity to understand the city’s waste-management and water-harvesting systems, providing a closer look at local approaches to sustainability.

Festival curator Rajesh N. Singh Mehar said the evenings would feature ‘Music, Ecology and Harmony’, bringing together music and environmental awareness. Performances will include classical guitarist Raghvendra Kumar, folk artiste Ritesh Gohiya, poet-songwriter Kavish Seth and singer Salman Ilahi.

A special attraction of the festival will be the ‘Climate Passport’ gamified quest, through which registered participants can earn Gold, Silver and Bronze stamps by completing different activities. Their scores will be displayed on a live leaderboard, adding an interactive element to the festival.

The top 30 participants will be felicitated at the grand closing ceremony at Vidya Bhawan on September 27.

With nature walks, music, traditional crafts, recycling, repair activities and interactive challenges, the Climate Chakrview Festival 2026 aims to make climate awareness more engaging while encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to explore sustainable solutions in their everyday lives.
