#### India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Inspected at New Delhi Railway Station

New Delhi — Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw visited New Delhi Railway Station to inspect India’s first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, marking a major milestone in the evolution of long-distance rail travel in the country.

During the inspection, the Minister carefully reviewed the sleeper coaches, examining seating and sleeping arrangements, contemporary interiors, advanced safety features, and passenger convenience systems. Special emphasis was placed on passenger safety, comfort, and the overall travel experience.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including automatic doors, the KAVACH safety system, advanced fire detection and suppression mechanisms, disinfection technology, and CCTV surveillance in all coaches. Innovative toilet designs have been introduced to enhance cleanliness and prevent water splashing, reflecting Indian Railways’ strong focus on hygiene and passenger well-being.

This first Vande Bharat Sleeper service will operate between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal, heralding a revolutionary change in long-distance overnight rail travel. The train has successfully completed all stages of testing, inspection, and certification. In January, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run on this route.

Interacting with railway officials, Shri Vaishnaw reviewed the technical aspects of the train and stated that the Vande Bharat Sleeper is fully prepared for service. The train comprises 16 coaches, including 11 AC Three-Tier coaches, four AC Two-Tier coaches, and one AC First Class coach, offering accommodation for approximately 823 passengers. Designed with advanced suspension systems, ergonomic interiors, and high standards of cleanliness, the train promises a superior and comfortable journey.

Passengers aboard the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will also enjoy a region-specific culinary experience. Authentic Assamese cuisine will be served on journeys originating from Guwahati, while passengers traveling from Kolkata will be treated to traditional Bengali dishes, ensuring a delightful and culturally rich onboard dining experience.

With a design speed of up to 180 km per hour, this semi-high-speed train combines modern amenities with reduced travel time, underscoring Indian Railways’ commitment to passenger-centric services, technological innovation, and world-class rail travel.
