Udaipur:Serious controversy has emerged ahead of the upcoming Oswal Sabha elections after Election Conveners Mr. Anandilal Bamboriya and Mr. Prasann Chand Lasod tendered their resignations citing major flaws in the voter list and lack of cooperation from the incumbent leadership. The resignations were submitted to outgoing President Mr. Prakash Kothari and the Executive Council, with the conveners stating that it was not possible to conduct free and fair elections within the stipulated time.
The conveners pointed out that despite repeated requests, essential information related to the voter list was not provided on time. They also highlighted multiple inaccuracies and errors in the voter list and said that the limited time given for corrections made an impartial election process impossible. Their resignation is being seen as an endorsement of Team Sanjay Bhandari’s demand for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, which has been raised consistently over the past ten days.
The development has raised serious questions about the fairness of the forthcoming elections. Allegations have been made that Mr. Prakash Kothari is determined to proceed with elections in an unconstitutional manner, allegedly ignoring the Sabha’s constitution and election rules due to personal insistence.
Strong Protest in Community Meeting
A meeting of senior and respected members of the Oswal community was held at the Oswal Sabha premises this morning, where a large number of members strongly objected to the alleged interference of the incumbent president in the election process. Some candidates claimed that they were being threatened, told to go ahead with filing nomination forms, and warned to be prepared to “face consequences” after the elections.
According to members, Mr. Kothari, allegedly fearing defeat, has adopted new tactics on a daily basis. It was claimed that he has changed and published the voter list five times, replaced three election conveners, and changed the election officer twice so far. These actions, along with allegations of threats to candidates, have caused widespread anger and resentment within the community.
Allegations by Sanjay Bhandari
Presidential candidate Sanjay Bhandari alleged that the current situation is a result of the authoritarian, rigid and arbitrary attitude of Mr. Prakash Kothari, which has divided the community into two factions. He further claimed that the latest voter list was released without the consent of the election conveners.
Bhandari alleged that the number of voters has been increased compared to the previously published list, that several voters have addresses outside Udaipur, and that ages have not been mentioned in many cases. He said this clearly indicates that the intention is not to hold a free and fair election, but rather to win the election by any means necessary.
Large Participation from Community Members
Several prominent community members including Nanalal Vaya, Manish Galundia, Nirmal Pokharna, Anil Mehta, Sudhir Mehta, Rajkumari Ganna, Hemant Mehta and Anil Jaroli expressed their views during the meeting. Many others including Satish Kachhara, Sonu Nagori, Bhavana Nagori, Manish Ganna, Renu Mehta, Santosh Mehta, Anamika Chaudhary, Neetu Kachhara, Arvind Jaroli, Ajay Dhing, Prashant Bhandari, Kamlesh Vaya, Mahesh Kothari, Manilal Bhanawat, Kailash Murdiya, Ravi Prakash Derasariya, Ramesh Kothari, Lalit Bhandari, Rakesh Baya, Kuldeep Mehta, Ankur Murdiya, Chirag Mehta, Saurabh Mehta, Anita Bhanawat and Navratan Kothari were present in large numbers.
