Udaipur: In a major step towards building a drug-free society in Rajasthan, the “Operation Lakshman Rekha” campaign was launched with the objective of transforming areas within a 500-meter radius of schools and colleges into strict “No Drugs Zones.”
The awareness and de-addiction programme was organized on Sunday at Udaan Nursing Academy under the special guidance of Additional Director General Dinesh M. N. and Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Inspector General Vikas Kumar.
The campaign aims to protect students and youth from the harmful effects of drug abuse while spreading awareness throughout society. Through “Operation Lakshman Rekha,” authorities are working to establish educational surroundings as completely drug-free and safe environments for young generations.
During the programme, ANTF Udaipur Outpost In-charge Kanwarpal Singh, along with his team, addressed students, volunteers, representatives of de-addiction centres, and NGO members. Speakers including Narpat Singh Chauhan of Arogya Seva Sansthan, academy manager Isha, and instructor Ram Singh highlighted the severe social, economic, and family-related consequences caused by drug addiction. They emphasized that substance abuse not only destroys individuals but also weakens society and the nation’s economic framework.
A large number of volunteers and social organization representatives attended the programme alongside police personnel including constables Dhanraj, Kuldeep, Ramniwas, and Pradeep Singh. On the occasion, Inspector Kanwarpal Singh administered an anti-drug pledge to all participants and appealed to every section of society to actively support the movement against narcotics.
He urged citizens to immediately report any illegal drug trade or trafficking activities to the district police or ANTF teams and fulfill their responsibility as aware and responsible members of society.
The ANTF team also shared details of major anti-drug operations and narcotics seizures carried out across Rajasthan and Udaipur district over the past seven months. The presentation generated enthusiasm among students, trainers, and volunteers, who collectively pledged to take the campaign to every village and hamlet and work towards making Udaipur completely drug-free.
At the conclusion of the programme, a complaint box was installed at the institution by ANTF officials, while two trainers and three students were appointed as volunteers for the anti-drug movement to ensure the campaign continues actively at the grassroots level.
