Udaipur: Delhi Public School (DPS), Udaipur, organised an inter-school Fashion Illustration Competition on July 11 to provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity and artistic skills while encouraging interest in design-oriented careers.
According to Dr. Dinkar Bharti, faculty member, Fashion Studies, the competition drew around 100 participants and was conducted in two categories. Group A comprised students from Classes VI to VIII, while Group B included students from Classes IX to XI.
Participants in Group A created fashion illustrations based on the theme of casual wear, whereas those in Group B presented designs inspired by party wear and red-carpet outfits. The students displayed originality and imagination through their sketches and illustrations.
An exhibition featuring students' project files and fashion sketches was also organised. Dr. Bharti delivered a presentation highlighting career opportunities in the fashion and design industry, providing guidance to aspiring students.
Welcoming the guests and judges, Govind Agrawal, Pro Vice-Chairman of the school, said such initiatives were relevant in view of changing career trends and could help students explore emerging creative fields. The competition was judged by Yashwant, faculty member at VCD College of Design, and fashion designer Shonai Dhabhai.
Principal Sanjay Narwariya said the evolving job market had opened up significant opportunities in skill-based professions and emphasised the need to encourage students to pursue creative disciplines. Vice-Principal Rajesh Dhabhai observed that design plays a vital role in almost every profession, making it a field with immense potential.
In Group A, Sulaksh Jain of St. Anthony's School secured the first prize, followed by Purvangana Singh Chundawat of Delhi Public School in second place and Riddhi Ranjan of Maharana Mewar Public School in third.
In Group B, Shubham Swarnkar of St. Anthony's School won the first prize, while Aradhya Singh of Maharana Mewar Public School and Isha Pardeshi of Delhi Public School secured the second and third positions, respectively. The winners were presented with certificates of merit.
