Conquering the Mind Is the Highest Spiritual Practice, Says Sadhvi Dr. Vidyutprabha Shriji

Udaipur, Conquering one's mind is the greatest form of spiritual practice, and the life of Lord Mahavir continues to inspire humanity even after 2,600 years, Sadhvi Dr. Vidyutprabha Shriji said during a religious discourse held on Friday as part of the ongoing Chaturmas observances at Shri Jain Shwetambar Murtipujak Vasupujya Mandir, Dadabari.

Addressing devotees, Sadhvi Shriji urged them not only to listen to the teachings of Lord Mahavir but also to incorporate his ideals of penance, renunciation and self-discipline into their daily lives.

She said that despite the passage of more than 2,600 years, millions of people across the world continue to remember Lord Mahavir with faith and devotion, while many today struggle to recall even the names of a few generations in their own families.

Referring to Lord Mahavir's 12 years of rigorous penance, she said his life demonstrated the path of self-conquest. Reflecting on his teachings and engaging in self-introspection, she added, has the potential to transform one's life.

Sadhvi Shriji encouraged devotees to ask themselves whether they spend more time caring for the soul or the body during the course of a day. She said mastering one's thoughts and emotions is the most difficult challenge, and true transformation begins only when a person gains control over the mind.

She also urged the audience to reflect on the true purpose of life rather than responding only to changing circumstances. Asking whether worldly wealth or the teachings of the Supreme Being hold greater value, she said lasting inner peace is possible only when spiritual wisdom is regarded as life's greatest treasure.

She added that material education and worldly attractions often distract people from spiritual truth, and said the nectar-like teachings of the Lord are essential to overcome the sufferings of worldly life.

The religious assembly began with devotional hymns and an invocation by Sadhvi Pragyanjana Shriji, Sadhvi Namanruchi Shriji, Sadhvi Yogaruchi Shriji, and Sadhvi Tanmayruchi Shriji. A large number of devotees attended the discourse.
