Udaipur, . The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect on Tuesday at the constituent Fisheries College of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur.
On this occasion, the Dean of the college and President of the program, Dr. R. L. Soni, highlighted the significance of April 14, stating that it is a very special day in Indian history. It was noted that Dr. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He was not only a lawyer but also an economist, politician, and a great social reformer. He chaired the drafting committee of the Indian Constitution and made remarkable efforts for the upliftment of the Dalit community. The Constitution, based on equality, liberty, fraternity, and justice, stands as his enduring legacy.
It was further mentioned that Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated across the country with great fervour, remembering his ideals and his relentless struggle against social discrimination. Dr. Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990 for his immense contribution to the nation.
During the program, Dr. Soni administered the oath of the Constitution to all students and staff members. The program was conducted by Associate Professor Dr. M. L. Ojha, who elaborated on various inspiring aspects of Dr. Ambedkar’s life and encouraged students to imbibe his values. He emphasised qualities such as truth, non-violence, discipline, obedience, eagerness to learn, focus, and positivity. The Preamble of the Constitution was also collectively recited during the event.
Several staff members including Mr. Sunil Bhatnagar, Babulal Jat, Jitendra Meena, Prabhulal Gayari, Prakash Malviya, Thanaram Gameti, Durgesh, Ishwar, along with guest faculty Dr. Rohitas Yadav and Dr. Abhinika, were present on the occasion. Students Saurabh Nogia and Harshvardhan Solanki, along with guest faculty Dr. Sahida Jaipuri, also shared their thoughts on Dr. Ambedkar.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M. L. Ojha.
