Discussion Organized by Vigyan Bharati, Udaipur on World Biodiversity Day at BN University

Udaipur: On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, Vigyan Bharati, Chittorgarh Province, Udaipur organized a special panel discussion at the Faculty of Science, Bhupal Nobles University. World Biodiversity Day is observed every year on May 22 to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation and environmental balance. This year’s global theme was “Taking Effective Local Initiatives for Global Well-being.”

The program featured expert panelists including Dr. Mohan Singh Rathore, Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore, Dr. Vimal Saraswat, Dr. Abhimanyu Singh Rathore, and Dr. Girdhar Pal Singh, who shared their views on biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, environmental challenges, and the need for conservation efforts at the local level.

Dr. Mohan Singh Rathore stated that biodiversity is the foundation of life on Earth and that sustainable development cannot be imagined without its conservation.

Dr. Abhimanyu Singh Rathore highlighted the important role of youth in protecting local flora and fauna. He also explained the connection between biodiversity and human health, emphasizing the need to preserve natural ecosystems.

Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore discussed the challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss, stressing the importance of community participation. He said that International Biodiversity Day reminds us that nature’s incredible diversity is the foundation of our existence. Plants, animals, microorganisms, and their habitats are vital sources of food, medicine, and economic security. He urged everyone to take both direct and indirect measures such as conserving ecosystems, reducing plastic use, and protecting local species, adding that preserving biodiversity for future generations is our shared responsibility.

Dr. Vimal Saraswat encouraged students to make environmental conservation a part of their daily lifestyle.

Dr. Girdhar Pal Singh administered a pledge to students and teachers present at the event, encouraging them to spread awareness about biodiversity conservation and work collectively for nature protection. The discussion concluded with a vote of thanks.
