Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani Attends Inaugural Ceremony of 28th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in New Delhi

New Delhi / Jaipur,Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Thursday attended the inaugural ceremony of the 28th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held at the historic Constitution Hall of Parliament in New Delhi. The conference was addressed by Narendra Modi.

On this occasion, Speaker Devnani held courtesy meetings with Om Birla, Union Ministers J P Nadda, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Bhagirath Choudhary, besides Members of Parliament from Rajasthan, Speakers of various State Assemblies, Members of Parliament, and several other leaders.

The inaugural session of the 28th conference was attended by the President of the IPU, the Chairperson of the CPA, Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Commonwealth countries, Union Ministers of the Government of India, and Presiding Officers of State Legislatures.

PM Modi’s Address Described as Inspiring

Speaker Devnani described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the Speakers and Presiding Officers of Commonwealth countries as highly inspiring. He said the Prime Minister emphasised strengthening democracy through democratic values, parliamentary traditions, and public participation. PM Modi also called for enhanced cooperation among Commonwealth nations, exchange of best parliamentary practices, capacity building, and collective solutions to shared challenges.

Referring to India’s achievements in various sectors, the Prime Minister highlighted the presence of women and youth across legislative institutions from grassroots to the national level. Devnani said this message would inspire Commonwealth countries to adopt democratic values and parliamentary traditions and move forward on the path of development, following India’s example.

Commonwealth Speakers to Visit Jaipur on January 17

Speaker Devnani informed that following the Commonwealth Conference in New Delhi, the Speakers of Commonwealth countries will visit Jaipur on January 17. In their honour, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will host a cultural programme and dinner on the evening of January 17 at the Constitution Club, Jaipur.

He stated that the visiting Speakers will be welcomed in Jaipur in accordance with Indian traditions. The programme will be attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Haribhau Bagade, Bhajanlal Sharma, members of the State Council of Ministers, the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, and Members of Parliament from the state. On this occasion, the Speakers of Commonwealth countries will also be formally felicitated.
