AIRFIELD ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT AIR FORCE STATION JODHPUR  

Jaipur :The bi-annual meeting of the Airfield Environmental Management Committee (AEMC) was held at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 28 Jul 26. The meeting was co-chaired by Shri Kanhaiya Lal Swami, Divisional Commissioner, Jodhpur and Air Commodore J Sreeram, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jodhpur. The meeting was attended by senior officials of Air Force Station Jodhpur and other concerned stakeholders.

            The Committee reviewed various environmental issues in and around Jodhpur airfield, including open drains, unauthorised constructions and improper garbage disposal in the vicinity of the airfield. These issues not only pose significant security concerns but also contribute to an increased risk of bird strikes involving both military and civil aircraft operating from Jodhpur Airfield.

            The Committee acknowledged the urgent need to address the growing bird hazard around Air Force Station Jodhpur. It emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring and assessment of environmental conditions, coupled with sustained public awareness initiatives to encourage preventive measures aimed at mitigating the bird menace. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to a coordinated inter agency approach to ensure a safer and more sustainable operating environment for aviation while safeguarding the interests of the local community.
