###New Edition of “Maharana” Showcasing 1500 Years of Mewar Heritage Launched

Udaipur, The fifth revised edition of the renowned book “Maharana: The Story of the Rulers of Udaipur” by acclaimed author and historian Brian Masters was ceremoniously launched at the City Palace, Udaipur, by Rajasthan Patrika Group Editor-in-Chief Dr. Gulab Kothari and the 77th Custodian of Mewar, Shri Ekling Diwan Shri Ji Huzoor Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

This newly published fifth revised edition of “Maharana” presents a vivid historical account of Mewar’s glorious 1500-year-old legacy, highlighting Rajput valour, pride, and cultural grandeur. The book chronicles the extraordinary heritage of 77 generations of the Mewar dynasty — regarded as one of the world’s oldest surviving royal lineages — through engaging historical narratives and documented accounts.

The author reflects on the responsibilities of succession, noting that after Shri Ji Huzoor Arvind Singh Mewar, the responsibility of preserving Mewar’s centuries-old traditions, values, and cultural heritage has now passed on to the 77th descendant, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.

The first edition of Brian Masters’ “Maharana” was published in 1990 under the patronage of the 76th Shri Ekling Diwan Shri Ji Huzoor Arvind Singh Mewar. Owing to its historical authenticity and compelling presentation, the book has remained a favourite among history enthusiasts and literary readers for decades. Responding to continued public interest and readership demand, the fifth revised edition has now been published under the guidance of Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Gulab Kothari had earlier unveiled a previous edition of “Maharana” during the 31st Annual Awards Ceremony of the Maharana Mewar Foundation in 2012, in the presence of Shri Ji Huzoor Arvind Singh Mewar.
