Union Budget 2026 Sets a New Direction for the Nation, Progressing Steadily Towards Vision 2047: Choudhary

Udaipur: A press conference was organized today at the BJP Media Centre, located at Patel Circle, Udaipur, where Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Bhagirath Choudhary addressed the media regarding the Union Budget 2026–27. During the interaction, he also responded in detail to journalists’ queries related to BB Ji Ram Ji. The press conference was welcomed and conducted by BJP Media In-charge Dr. Seema Champawat. At the outset, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to senior BJP leader and former councilor Hemant Bohra, who recently passed away untimely.
Addressing the press, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Bhagirath Choudhary said that the Union Budget 2026 provides a new direction and momentum to the country’s progress and is continuously advancing towards the goals of Vision 2047. He described it as a historic budget focused on farmer prosperity and rural empowerment. Presented under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, the Budget 2026 gives new direction to agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and the rural economy. Its core objective is to reduce farmers’ input costs, increase their income, make farming profitable and modern, and build self-reliant villages.
Highlighting major budget allocations, he said that ₹1,62,671 crore has been earmarked for key agricultural activities, while ₹2,73,108 crore has been allocated for rural development. The budget places special emphasis on increasing agricultural production through improved seeds, crop diversification, and promotion of scientific farming. A provision of ₹10,000 crore has been made for MSMEs and agriculture-based industries, including financial support for food processing, dairy, and agricultural startups.
For the empowerment of farmers, women, and youth, Self-Help Groups will be further promoted. The Lakhpati Didi scheme will be expanded to make rural women economically self-reliant and increase self-employment opportunities, enabling them to play a significant role in national development. In the animal husbandry and veterinary sectors, vaccination programs and improved animal feed schemes will be implemented to enhance livestock productivity. Additionally, 500 reservoirs will be constructed across the country, cashew and sandalwood development will be undertaken in 30 regions, and a National Fiber Mission will be launched to promote silk and jute.
Speaking on finance and the economy, Shri Choudhary stated that the budget is a balanced document that combines fiscal discipline with rapid growth. The fiscal deficit has been reduced to 4.3 percent. The tax system has been simplified to reduce ambiguity and increase trust, while providing relief to the middle class and encouraging investment. MSMEs and small industries, described as India’s major strength, will be supported through a ₹10,000 crore MSME Growth Fund, affordable credit, and faster payment mechanisms. Manufacturing clusters and exports will also receive a boost.
In the education and skill development sector, the budget focuses on linking education with employment. University towns will be developed near industrial corridors, and skill hubs will be established in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Advanced laboratories under the ABGC initiative will prepare the workforce for future technologies. In healthcare, the budget aims to make treatment affordable and accessible, with tax exemptions on medicines for cancer and rare diseases, large-scale recruitment of allied health professionals, and expansion of veterinary services.
On infrastructure development, Shri Choudhary emphasized that faster connectivity is the key to rapid growth. A capital expenditure of ₹12.2 lakh crore has been allocated. Twenty new national waterways will be developed, along with the expansion of rail corridors, ports, and logistics infrastructure. The railways and transport sector will emerge as the backbone of the Indian economy. Modern river ports in Varanasi and Patna will make freight transport faster and cheaper. High-speed rail corridors will open new avenues for trade, tourism, and employment, while freight corridors will ensure direct market access for industrial and agricultural produce. An integrated logistics system connecting land, water, and air will be developed through the Bharat TradeNet platform.
The budget also aims to directly integrate Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities into the national economy, generating lakhs of new employment opportunities through railway and transport projects. In the energy and environment sector, green growth has been prioritized to ensure a secure future, with ₹20,000 crore allocated for carbon capture, promotion of solar and battery manufacturing, and strengthening of nuclear energy.
In the technology and semiconductor sector, India is poised to emerge as a global technology powerhouse. An investment of ₹40,000 crore has been proposed for the Semiconductor Mission and rare earth minerals clusters. Emphasizing women and social justice, the Minister said that women’s empowerment is national empowerment. She-Mart will promote women entrepreneurship, girls’ hostels will be established in every district, and modern assistive devices will be provided for persons with disabilities.
In rural development, the focus is on connecting villages to global markets through the Gram Swaraj initiative, branding of rural handicrafts and products, and new income opportunities from animal husbandry and dairy. In urban development, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities will be developed as engines of growth, featuring high-speed rail corridors, smart transport systems, and eco-friendly urban planning.
In tourism and culture, the budget adopts the theme of “heritage to development,” with the rejuvenation of 15 historical sites, launch of a Digital Heritage Mission, and training of 10,000 tourist guides. In exports and trade, the objective is to make India a global trade power through an Export Promotion Mission, connecting MSMEs to international markets, and reducing logistics costs.
Concluding his address, Shri Choudhary stated that this budget empowers the poor, farmers, youth, women, and the middle class. It provides a clear roadmap for employment generation, investment, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, and lays a strong foundation for a developed India by 2047.
