Controlling Carbon Emissions is Essential for Everyone: Komal Kothari

Udaipur: “In the coming years, the continuous rise in sea levels may pose a serious threat to the existence of island nations. Due to the emission of greenhouse gases, atmospheric temperatures are increasing, causing rapid melting of mountain ice and glaciers, which in turn is raising sea levels. To control this process, efforts are being made globally, and India has also signed agreements to achieve the ‘Net Zero’ carbon emission target. It is extremely important to spread awareness about controlling carbon dioxide emissions during industrial production processes.”

These views were expressed by Komal Kothari, Executive Chairman of the Udaipur Industrial Waste Management and Research Center.

A one-day awareness program on “Carbon Credit” was organized on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Pyrotech TempSens Hall of UCCI. The program was jointly organized by the Udaipur Industrial Waste Management and Research Center in collaboration with the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI). More than 50 participants from various industrial units attended the event.

The resource person for the program was carbon credit expert Akanksha Upadhyay from Hyderabad. Welcoming her and the participants, UCCI President Manish Galundia stated that although the concept of “carbon credit” may be new for many participants, it is the need of the hour. He emphasized that industries will soon be required to comply with related regulations and urged them to adopt this change positively.

C.S.R. Mehta, Member Secretary of the Udaipur Industrial Waste Management and Research Center, introduced the resource person and informed that the government is likely to soon implement regulations related to controlling carbon emissions in industrial production processes.

During the program, Vice President Mahendra Singh Khimesara and Honorary Treasurer Hasina Chakkiwala also shared their views.

In the training session, Akanksha Upadhyay delivered a detailed presentation using PowerPoint, explaining various aspects of carbon credit. She elaborated on how industries can comply with carbon credit norms while making their businesses sustainable and profitable. She also highlighted topics such as “Net Zero,” data-driven future, carbon footprint calculation, the importance of carbon in business, the impact of climate change on human productivity, and methods to control carbon emissions during manufacturing processes.

She noted that currently many industries operate without strict compliance, but in the near future, adherence to government regulations will become mandatory.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Sakshi Jain, Executive Officer, and concluded with a vote of thanks.
