UCCI Submits Key Suggestions for Improved Railway Facilities

Udaipur: The Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) has submitted several important suggestions aimed at improving railway facilities for passengers from the Udaipur division as well as tourists visiting the region.

The meeting of the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee was held in Ajmer under the chairmanship of Divisional Railway Manager Shri Raju Bhutada. Dr. Pawan Telesara represented UCCI and presented detailed recommendations related to various issues concerning industry and trade.

UCCI proposed timely completion of redevelopment works at Udaipur City and Rana Pratap Nagar railway stations, expansion of modern passenger amenities, and strengthening of infrastructure such as lifts, escalators, cleanliness systems, security arrangements, and digital information services. It also suggested the establishment of a 24×7 medical assistance centre at Udaipur City station.

Among long-term policy and development proposals, UCCI recommended upgrading the Railway Training Institute in Udaipur into a “Centre of Excellence,” setting up a railway coach manufacturing unit in the region, and expediting key railway projects such as Nathdwara–Marwar, Udaipur–Jalore via Pindwara, and Udaipur–Banswara–Ratlam rail lines. Emphasis was also placed on new rail connectivity plans to boost industrial and export activities.

The meeting also discussed in detail the development of ICD (Inland Container Depot) facilities in the region through coordinated efforts between Railways, CONCOR, shipping lines, and exporters, as well as conducting a feasibility survey for rail connectivity from Udaipur to Mundra Port via Pindwara.

Additional proposals included introduction of a Vande Bharat train between Udaipur and Delhi via Jaipur, extension of the Chetak Express up to Dungarpur, extension of Sealdah–Ajmer and Jammu Tawi–Ajmer trains up to Udaipur, a daily Udaipur–Mumbai service via Ahmedabad, a new Udaipur–Puri service via Khajuraho and Jabalpur, establishment of a coach manufacturing unit in Rajasthan, and improved rail connectivity with major southern cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The meeting was held in a cordial and highly productive atmosphere. Senior Divisional Operations Manager Shri Mihir Dev, senior railway officials, and representatives from Udaipur including Shri Pramod Jhanwar and Om Prakash Paliwal, along with delegates from Bhilwara, Abu Road, and other regions, participated in the discussion.

Divisional Railway Manager Shri Raju Bhutada assured that a follow-up meeting will be organized next month at the UCCI auditorium and that necessary action will be taken on the submitted suggestions, with relevant matters being forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
