Udaipur: International miniature artist and 211-time world record holder Dr. Iqbal Sakka has created what he claims to be the world's smallest gold and silver chariot of Lord Jagannath on the occasion of the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, conveying a message of communal harmony and brotherhood.
The intricately crafted chariot measures just 1 cm × 1 cm, showcasing Dr. Sakka's exceptional craftsmanship. It features a 1-centimetre silver temple, a 1-millimetre gold finial (kalash), and a saffron flag bearing the sacred 'Om' symbol. Inside the miniature temple is an exquisitely crafted silver idol of Lord Jagannath, smaller than a grain of mung bean, placed on a tiny throne. The idol is so small that it can only be viewed with the help of a magnifying lens.
To complete the artwork, Dr. Sakka also created a 1-centimetre silver horse, depicting the divine chariot in motion.
Dr. Sakka said the miniature chariot symbolizes communal harmony, peace, and brotherhood. He announced that he would present this unique creation to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, and has already written to the Shri Jagannath Temple Trust Committee seeking permission for the offering.
The chariot has been crafted using 7 grams of silver and 300 milligrams of gold, and took approximately 36 hours to complete.
According to Dr. Sakka, the current internationally recorded smallest Jagannath chariot, created by an artist from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, measures 3 cm × 2 cm. By creating a 1 cm × 1 cm gold and silver Jagannath chariot, he claims to have surpassed that record and established a new world benchmark for the smallest gold and silver Jagannath chariot ever created.
