Udaipur: A meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Committee was held on Wednesday evening at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal.
During the meeting, the District Collector conducted a detailed review of the works completed so far under the Jal Jeevan Mission. It was informed that 175 schemes have been completed in the district under the mission.
Referring to the directions issued during the DISHA committee meeting held on Tuesday, the District Collector instructed officials to conduct social audits of the completed works. He also directed that local public representatives and members of the DISHA Committee should be included in the audit teams.
Reviewing projects that are nearly 90 percent complete, the Collector advised departmental officials to focus on monitoring and project management. He said that as soon as budget allocations are received, priority should be given to projects where only minor work remains pending. He cited examples where water sources, storage tanks, and most of the pipeline work are already completed, emphasizing that such projects should be finished on priority so that people can start receiving benefits at the earliest.
Mr. Agrawal also expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that out of 177 saturated villages under the mission, only 75 villages have so far been issued “Har Ghar Nal” certification. He directed all Sub-Divisional Officers to ensure, through Development Officers, that certificates for the remaining villages are issued promptly.
The meeting also included discussions on providing tap water connections in schools, Anganwadi centers, health centers, and villages, selection of “Nal Jal Mitras,” water service assessment, Jal Arpan Diwas, and the Sujalam Bharat initiative.
Among those present at the meeting were Avula Sai Krishna, Shubham Bhaisare, trainee IAS officer Manimala N, ADM City Jitendra Ojha, and PHED Superintending Engineer Ravindra Chaudhary along with officials from various concerned departments.
