Udaipur: As per the directions of the Director and Joint Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, a series of programs aimed at connecting youth with senior citizens commenced on Tuesday at the Old Age Home Centre operated by Tara Sansthan. The week-long initiative is being organized from June 16 to June 21, 2026, with the objective of fostering intergenerational bonding and mutual learning.
The inaugural program was held under the chief guestship of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) Rahul Chaudhary, while Girish Bhatnagar, Joint Director, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, presided over the event.
At the outset, Deepesh Mittal of Tara Sansthan welcomed the guests and provided information about the establishment of the Old Age Home Centre and the facilities available to its residents. Sameer Khan, an officer from the Department of Youth Affairs, highlighted the significance of the initiative and outlined the schedule of activities planned throughout the week.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest ADJ Rahul Chaudhary elaborated on the various legal provisions and protections available for senior citizens. He emphasized the importance of seeking guidance from elders and learning from their life experiences and wisdom.
Presiding over the program, Girish Bhatnagar spoke about various social security schemes, the Old Age Home Centre, Swayamsiddha Ashram, and the Chief Minister Rehabilitation Home. He remarked that senior citizens are a treasure trove of experience and knowledge, and society should continuously strive to learn from them. He also stressed the importance of treating senior citizens with respect, dignity, and sensitivity.
On the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the guests unveiled an awareness poster highlighting the rights and welfare of senior citizens. During the visit, ADJ Rahul Chaudhary also toured the Old Age Home Centre, interacted with the residents, and reviewed the facilities and arrangements being provided to them.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Harshit Pancholi, Social Security Officer.
