Udaipur: The Mining, Mineral Processing and Dimensional Stone Sub-Committee of the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) held its first meeting for the 2026–27 term at the UCCI Bhawan under the chairmanship of Gurpreet Singh Soni.
Addressing the meeting, Soni said the sub-committee would work towards the development of the mining, mineral processing, and dimensional stone sectors while addressing industry concerns and effectively representing the industry's interests before the State and Central Governments.
Members discussed several key issues affecting the mining sector, including the current status of the Aravalli Hills, the proposal to classify quartz and feldspar as major minerals, and the restoration of their mining administration to the Department of Mines and Geology, Rajasthan.
The committee also deliberated on the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued under Rule 84A(2) of the Rajasthan Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2017, the rollout of e-Ravana Version 2.1, and the installation of the hardware required under the Weighbridge (WB) Automation SOP.
Another important agenda item was the FIMI–SMI study on assessing India's mineral resources and the availability of land for compensatory afforestation linked to mining activities.
The committee formulated an action plan on these issues and resolved to submit detailed representations to the concerned departments of both the State and Central Governments to safeguard the interests of the mining and mineral-based industries.
The meeting was conducted by Co-Chairman Dr. Hitanshu Kaushal and attended by UCCI Vice-President Kapil Surana, former Patron Arvind Singhal, and several leading representatives from the mining industry, who actively participated in the discussions.
