Udaipur: The Orthopedic Department of Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has achieved another significant milestone. Chairman Ashish Agrawal stated that a successful reverse shoulder replacement surgery was performed on a 68-year-old patient, providing relief from long-standing shoulder pain and restricted arm movement.
The patient had been suffering from severe shoulder pain and difficulty lifting the arm for a long time. Upon examination, doctors found that the rotator cuff in the shoulder was severely damaged, causing difficulty in performing even routine activities.
This complex and advanced surgery was successfully carried out by orthopedic and sports injury surgeon Dr. Shashank Ranka along with his expert team. Following the surgery, the patient is stable, and continuous improvement in shoulder function has been observed.
Dr. Ranka explained that reverse shoulder replacement is an advanced surgical procedure recommended for patients with severely damaged rotator cuffs who do not benefit from conventional treatments. The surgery helps relieve pain and improves shoulder mobility.
According to hospital management, this achievement marks an important milestone for the Orthopedic Department at PIMS and further strengthens the availability of advanced shoulder surgery in the region, ensuring access to modern and high-quality medical care for patients.
