Sri Ganganagar: A district-level meeting of the Narcotics Coordination Center Committee was held on Tuesday at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Manju. The meeting featured detailed discussions on key issues related to prevention, monitoring, and public awareness of narcotic substances in the district.
During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on information-sharing regarding drug trafficking in the district. Instructions were also given to ensure strict monitoring and prevention of the cultivation of illegal crops such as opium and cannabis. The District Collector directed that the availability and stock of medications used in substance abuse be regularly checked, and that any irregularities found in medical records be dealt with according to the rules.
The Collector instructed that medical stores be mandated to supply medicines only through official portals, and that students in schools and colleges be regularly monitored. She also emphasized conducting extensive public awareness campaigns on the harmful effects of drugs. Stressing the need to prevent chemical-based narcotics, she added that special attention should be paid to medicines arriving via courier services.
During the meeting, officers from the concerned departments presented progress reports on the implementation of directives from the previous meeting and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to achieve a drug-free society.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, Additional District Collector (Vigilance) Ms. Reena, SDM Ganganagar Mr. Nayan Gautam, Mr. Ashok Mittal, Dr. Ajay Singla, and other officials.
