Raj Shekhawat Calls for ‘Decisive Battle’ on UGC Rollback; Karni Sena Announces August 23 Delhi Mahapanchayat

Udaipur: Kshatriya Karni Sena founder and national president Dr. Raj Shekhawat has called for a “decisive struggle” against the UGC Regulation Act-2026, urging people from across the country to gather in New Delhi on August 23 for a Savarn Aakrosh Mahapanchayat at Shah Auditorium. He said the movement would continue until a decision on the UGC rollback is taken.

Addressing a press conference in Udaipur on Friday, Dr. Shekhawat said he has been leading a public awareness and invitation yatra since August 5, beginning with prayers at Eklingji Temple and passing through Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Salumber, Banswara and Dungarpur before reaching Udaipur.

He alleged that political parties had taken votes from the Savarn community but failed to protect its interests. According to him, the UGC regulations contain serious anomalies that could create social divisions in the future. He demanded that the government withdraw what he described as an unjust law if equality is to be ensured in the education system.

Dr. Shekhawat announced a 15,000-km nationwide awareness campaign that will travel through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other states to mobilize students, parents, academicians and members of the general category. The campaign will culminate at the Delhi Mahapanchayat on August 23.

He also warned that Savarn leaders who do not oppose the UGC regulations or support the movement would face open boycott in future elections.

In a significant political announcement, Dr. Shekhawat said that an Akhanda Karni Party has been formed to provide an alternative political platform and that it will contest upcoming elections.

Commenting on the youth group known as the Cockroach Party, he said its protest raised valid concerns but later became “directionless,” alleging that some participants were involved in anti-national activities and had insulted Hindu deities, which Karni Sena would not support.

Karni Sena rural district president Kunwar Onar Singh Bichhawera said the organization was demanding equality, impartiality and natural justice in the higher education system, adding that the movement was not against any caste, class or community but sought protection of every student’s rights and future.

The workers’ conference held at Ghata Wali Mataji Temple premises was attended by several Karni Sena office-bearers and social representatives from Udaipur and neighboring districts.
