Pharmacy Association seeks dedicated UP Pharmacy University

Lucknow: Prof. Amrika Singh, president of the Uttar Pradesh Pharmacy College and Pharma Industries Welfare Association and former vice-chancellor, paid a courtesy visit to Home Guards Deputy Inspector General Sanjeev Kumar Shukla in Agra.

The association’s general secretary, Prof. Dr. Durgesh Mani Tripathi, was also present during the meeting.

During the interaction, Prof. Singh briefed the DIG about the association’s activities and objectives. She said that about 2,700 pharmacy colleges and 1,100 pharma industries are operating in Uttar Pradesh.

She emphasized that effective coordination between pharmacy colleges and the pharmaceutical industry is essential for the overall development of pharmacy education and the pharma sector in the state.

Prof. Singh further said that, considering Uttar Pradesh’s large population and the educational needs of pharmacy students, the association has been continuously urging the state government to establish a “Uttar Pradesh Pharmacy University.”

Drawing a comparison with the establishment of Banaras Hindu University through the efforts of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya, she said the association is similarly appealing to the government for the creation of a dedicated pharmacy university and would extend all possible support for the initiative.

She also expressed serious concern over the migration of pharmacy students from Uttar Pradesh to other states for higher education and admissions.

Several other important issues related to pharmacy education and the pharmaceutical sector were discussed during the meeting.

DIG Sanjeev Kumar Shukla appreciated the association’s innovative efforts and conveyed his best wishes and full support for its future initiatives.
