Udaipur: The first day of the Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival 2026 began in a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere, as Indian and international artists shared the stage at Gandhi Ground. Marking the beginning of the festival’s remarkable ten-year journey, the event once again transformed Udaipur into a global platform for cultural exchange through music. Conceived and presented by Seher, supported by Hindustan Zinc, and organized with the cooperation of the Government of Rajasthan and the Tourism Department, the festival reaffirmed its international stature.

The evening unfolded as a powerful confluence of diverse sounds and traditions. Performances opened with a Rajasthani Folk Orchestra, whose energetic rhythms and traditional melodies beautifully reflected the region’s rich musical heritage and set the tone for the night.

International colours soon filled the stage as Norway’s 9 Grader Nord delivered a distinctive blend of Norwegian and Tamil folk rock, creating a deep connection with the audience through their cross-cultural soundscape. This was followed by Algeria’s Sofiane Saidi, whose soulful performance and unique fusion of global musical rhythms left the audience spellbound, making the opening night truly memorable.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the evening was the live performance by Kailash Kher and Kailasa. Their soul-stirring vocals and powerful compositions rooted in folk and Sufi traditions captivated listeners. Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra remarked that music and culture uniquely weave diverse voices into a single harmony.
