Udaipur, The passion for education shown by Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, a three-time elected legislator, has emerged as an inspiring example not only in Rajasthan but across the country. Forced to discontinue his studies at the age of 15 due to financial hardships, Meena returned to academics after four decades—drawing inspiration from his daughters—and today stands as a powerful role model for young girls in his constituency.

Appeared for MA Final Examination

Belonging to a tribal family, Phool Singh Meena had to abandon his education early in life because of economic constraints and personal struggles. Motivated by his daughters, he resumed his academic journey at the age of 55 and successfully completed his Bachelor’s degree (BA). Determined to go further, he pursued a Master’s degree in Political Science and recently appeared for the MA Final examination at the age of 68 from Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University.

MLA Meena shared that his dream is to pursue a PhD and dedicate the doctoral title to his father, who served the nation as a soldier. His determination and commitment to learning serve as a shining example for students of all ages.

Balancing Public Duty and Education

Despite his demanding political responsibilities, Phool Singh Meena continues to prioritize education. He remains actively engaged in the field, addressing public issues, and is known for his accessibility to the people. In the Legislative Assembly, he is recognized for his active participation, often earning the distinction of being a “century scorer” for raising 100 questions during question hour.

Alongside these responsibilities, he has steadily progressed in his academic pursuits and has now reached the final stage of his postgraduate studies.

Notably, MLA Meena is a member of the Speaker’s Panel of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, has been serving for the second consecutive term as Chairman of the Tribal Welfare Committee, and is also a member of the Governing Council of RSCERT. A follower of Radha Soami Satsang and a disciple of Baba Ji Gurinder Singh Ji Dhillon, he is also popular for his fitness discipline and distinctive dress code.

Passion for Education Is Truly Exemplary

Principal Sanjay Lunawat, who has supported Meena in his educational journey, said that the MLA fulfills his public responsibilities with complete dedication, while his enthusiasm and commitment toward education are truly commendable. Even amid a hectic schedule, Meena continues studying during travel—listening to audio lectures in his car and revising notes whenever time permits.

A Beacon of Inspiration for Girls’ Education

Inspired by his own daughters, Phool Singh Meena has now become a symbol of encouragement for girls’ education across the region. Influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative, he has taken a unique step—every year arranging free air travel for the highest-scoring girls of Classes 10 and 12 from every Panchayat and Ward in his constituency, across all communities.

This initiative has not only boosted academic motivation among girls but has also contributed to a decline in child marriages in the region.
