###MLSU Celebrates Guru Purnima, Ved Vyasa Jayanti

UDAIPUR, India — Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) on Tuesday celebrated Maharishi Ved Vyasa Jayanti and Guru Purnima with a special program titled "Maharishi Ved Vyasa and Bharat-Bharati" at the Bappa Rawal Auditorium in the university's Golden Jubilee Guest House.

The event was organized by the University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities to pay tribute to India's guru tradition and its rich knowledge heritage.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kailash Daga attended as the chief guest, while Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, presided over the function. The program was conducted by Dr. Kunjan Acharya, Assistant Dean of Student Welfare.

A special felicitation ceremony honored former Vice-Chancellors Prof. Kailash Sodani, currently Advisor to the Governor of Rajasthan, Prof. Indravardhan Trivedi, Prof. Umashankar Sharma, and former Dean of the Commerce College and former Vice Chairman of the Rajasthan State Higher Education Council, Prof. Dariyav Singh Chundawat.

University Registrar Dr. B.C. Garg, along with senior academic leaders including Prof. Anand Paliwal, Prof. M.K. Jain, Prof. Shoorveer Singh Bhanawat, Prof. Hanuman Prasad, Prof. Meera Mathur, and Controller of Examinations Dr. Mukesh Barbar, presented the distinguished guests with traditional Mewari turbans, ceremonial shawls, coconuts and citations. Students also welcomed and honored the teachers with ceremonial tilak and shawls.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Daga said Maharishi Ved Vyasa not only compiled the Vedas but also authored the epic Mahabharata, providing an enduring foundation for Indian civilization. He said Guru Purnima symbolizes the continuous transmission of knowledge from teacher to student and urged young people to embrace India's deep intellectual traditions in an era of expanding information.

In his presidential address, Prof. Sharma said honoring teachers is not merely a ceremonial act but an expression of gratitude toward India's knowledge tradition. He described Bharat-Bharati as the collective stream of wisdom flowing through the Vedas, Upanishads, philosophy and literature, adding that the college remains committed to preserving and promoting this heritage.

Prof. Kailash Sodani said Maharishi Ved Vyasa's life teaches that knowledge should serve society rather than personal advancement. He encouraged students to integrate moral values with education.

Prof. Indravardhan Trivedi said Ved Vyasa successfully united history, philosophy and ethics, offering a multidimensional perspective that remains relevant for today's youth in addressing modern challenges through an Indian worldview.

Prof. Umashankar Sharma described the guru-disciple tradition as one of India's greatest cultural treasures, saying Guru Purnima reminds society that respecting knowledge is fundamental to preserving culture.

Prof. Dariyav Singh Chundawat said Bharat-Bharati represents not only language but also India's comprehensive tradition of knowledge, culture and philosophy, emphasizing the university's responsibility to preserve and disseminate this legacy.

Registrar Dr. Garg said such events strengthen the university's cultural consciousness and inspire future generations by recognizing the contributions of teachers. He concluded the program by thanking the guests, faculty members, students and organizers for making the celebration successful.
