###Congress Criticizes Union Budget, Calls It Visionless and Disappointing

Udaipur | Reacting to the Union Budget presented by the Narendra Modi government, Udaipur City District Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore termed it disappointing and pessimistic, stating that it clearly reflects the government’s lack of vision and political will for the country. He said the budget offers no solutions to India’s economic, social, or political challenges.

Rathore pointed out that no concrete roadmap has been presented for youth employment, nor has any relief been provided to the poor and middle class from rising inflation. Household savings are continuously declining, while the government is merely repeating old promises. He criticized the Smart Cities mission, saying that cities are becoming increasingly unlivable. Referring to Indore, he alleged that people are losing their lives after consuming contaminated water, yet the government continues to promote the “Smart City” slogan without addressing ground realities. He added that budgetary cuts in agriculture, rural development, urban development, health, and education indicate an attempt to push the country backwards, while manipulating figures to mask the truth.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Social Media Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit also strongly criticized the budget, stating that although votes were sought in Rajasthan in the name of a “double-engine government,” the Centre has failed to provide any fuel to Rajasthan’s engine. He said the absence of any mention of Rajasthan—the country’s largest state—in the budget speech is a grave injustice to the state.

Dr. Rajpurohit further noted that no major relief has been announced for the poor, labourers, or the large unorganized sector. He said the budget lacks any concrete measures to control inflation or address the falling value of the rupee. Inequality has surpassed even the levels seen during British rule, yet the budget does not acknowledge this reality. He described the budget as one presented by a tired and retired government.

He alleged that the Modi government is reluctant to allocate funds to states and even fails to fully utilize the budgetary provisions that are made. According to him, the budget is not in the interest of the poor or the youth, as it remains silent on how inflation will be reduced and how employment opportunities will be generated.

Overall, Congress leaders concluded that despite claims of a double-engine government, the Union Budget has proved to be an “all show, no substance” exercise for Rajasthan and deeply disappointing for the country as a whole.
