Photo Exhibition to Introduce New Generation to the Glorious Legacy of Mewar: MLA Jain

Udaipur: “It is not an easy task to capture the spirit of Mewar’s pride and valor through art, but the artists have expressed it so powerfully that it feels as if each painting is speaking—‘May thy glory remain eternal, O Motherland, whether we live or not for a few days,’” said City MLA Tarachand Jain while inaugurating the three-day Haldighati War Victory Photo Exhibition at Maharana Bhupal Stadium, Gandhi Ground.

The exhibition has been organized as part of the Haldighati Vijay Sarda Chaturthi (450th) Commemoration. After viewing the display, MLA Jain urged the younger generation to visit the exhibition, stating that it would not only instill pride in Mewar’s sacrificial legacy but also inspire values such as patriotism, cultural pride, truth, discipline, character, courage, and devotion to the motherland.

Inauguration and Dignitaries

Exhibition Convener Dr. Raman Sood informed that the inaugural event was attended by Maharana Pratap Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh and Bharathpur Brij University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Madan Singh Rathore. A poster of a short film on the Haldighati victory was also released on the occasion.

Among those present were Contact Officer of Pratap Gaurav Kendra Hanuman Singh Rathore, President of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Committee Prof. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, General Secretary Deepak Kumar Shukla, Convener of the Commemoration Committee CA Dr. Mahavir Chaplot, Vice President Subhash Bhargava, Director of Pratap Gaurav Kendra Anurag Saxena, Dr. Anil Kothari, artist Ram Singh, Dr. Vinod Yadav, film director Arvind Singh Chaudhary, editor Dinesh, cinematographer Chetan, sound recordist Chittaranjan Das, and several other officials and contributors.

Exhibition Showcases Mewar’s Rich Historical Heritage

Dr. Vivek Bhatanagar, Director of Pratap Gaurav Research Centre, stated that the exhibition features a total of 169 paintings. These include:

  • 51 paintings depicting the Haldighati battle as well as historical jauhar and saka events,
  • 68 paintings showcasing the history of Udaipur’s streets, localities, and markets,
  • 50 paintings created by artists from across the country during Maharana Pratap Jayanti workshops held over the years.

Historians including Dr. Hukam Joshi, Prof. P.M. Yadav, Dr. Baludan Barhat, and Lav Verma guided visitors through the exhibition, explaining aspects of Mewar’s valorous history, urban planning, water management systems, craftsmanship, agriculture, and environmental heritage.

Part of a Year-Long Commemoration

The exhibition is being organized under the aegis of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Committee and Pratap Gaurav Kendra “Rashtriya Teerth” as part of the year-long Haldighati Vijay Sarda Chaturthi celebrations. It will remain open until June 17, when the grand Rashtra Chetna Sankalp Sabha is scheduled, addressed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat.

Milk Abhishek on Eve of Maharana Pratap Jayanti

On June 16 at 5:15 PM, a ceremonial milk abhishek of the 57-feet-high seated statue of Maharana Pratap at Pratap Gaurav Kendra will be performed on the eve of Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

Dr. Mohan Bhagwat’s Visit

Dr. Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to arrive in Udaipur on Tuesday evening via Maharana Pratap Airport from Delhi at 7:30 PM. He will proceed to Pratap Gaurav Kendra at around 8:30 PM for an overnight stay and will address the Rashtra Chetna Sankalp Sabha at Gandhi Ground on June 17 before departing for Delhi in the afternoon.

Entry and Parking Arrangements

Event Convener CA Dr. Mahavir Chaplot outlined detailed entry and parking arrangements:

  • VIPs (golden invitation card holders) and saints (saffron invitation card holders) will enter via Gate No. 1 (Luv-Kush Stadium side), with parking arranged nearby.
  • Special invitees (blue invitation card holders) will enter via Gate 3B near Guru Gobind Singh School, with parking on Jharia Road and shuttle golf carts available.
  • Intellectuals, media, workers, and general participants will enter through Gate No. 2 (Pahadi Bus Stand) and Gate 3A (Lamardar School side).
  • Two-wheeler parking for city attendees will be at locations including Pahadi Bus Stand, Information Centre, Mohta Park, and MB Hospital road.
  • Four-wheeler parking will be at Field Club, Madhuban, Lok Kala Mandal, Bhattji Ki Badi, and Detya Magri–Railway Colony route.
  • Vehicles from other cities will be parked at Fateh School and Vidya Bhawan (Devli campus), with shuttle services arranged to Gandhi Ground via designated routes.
  • Special shuttle vehicles will operate with event banners and will also be available for city dignitaries attending the programme.
