Painting Competition Organized on Prevention of Animal Cruelty

Udaipur: As part of Animal Welfare Month (January 14 to February 13), a painting competition on the theme of animal welfare and prevention of animal cruelty was organized at the Training Institute.
Joint Director of the institute, Dr. Surendra Chhangani, informed that students of the Animal Husbandry Diploma course attempted to inspire feelings of kindness, compassion, and love towards animals through their artwork. The competition also aimed to convey the message to the general public that animal cruelty is a punishable offence.
At the outset, Dr. Chhangani provided detailed information on activities that fall under the category of animal cruelty and stated that under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, such acts are punishable by law. He explained that exploitation of animals, overloading them beyond their capacity, beating them unnecessarily, restraining them with short ropes, and using injured or sick animals for work are all considered acts of animal cruelty.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Padma Meel emphasized that everyone can play an important role in preventing animal cruelty. She stated that it is our responsibility to protect the rights bestowed upon animals by nature and to remain vigilant against acts of cruelty.
On this occasion, Dr. Omprakash Sahu announced the results of the competition, stating that students displayed excellent creativity and awareness. Indrapal Jat secured first position, Santosh Goswami secured second position, and Tanuj Sharma secured third position.
