UDAIPUR — Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Samiti on Tuesday organized a cleanliness and tree plantation campaign at the Mohanlal Sukhadia Memorial, Durga Nursery campus and surrounding areas to promote environmental conservation and public cleanliness.

The campaign began at 7 a.m., with office-bearers and members of the committee sweeping roads and clearing litter while encouraging residents to maintain clean surroundings.

The program was inaugurated by Pankaj Kumar Sharma, district coordinator of the Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Samiti and general secretary and spokesperson of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, along with Shyam Sundar Joshi, the committee's state coordinator. The two leaders paid floral tributes at the memorial of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Mohanlal Sukhadia before participating in the cleanliness drive.

Among those who joined the campaign were Rohit Sharma, Ashok Tamboli, Kanhaiyalal Menaria, Sanjay Mandawani, Naval Singh Chundawat, Chandu Joshi, Kapil Vasita, Nizam Hela, Usman, Sudhir Joshi and Firoz Ahmed Sheikh, along with several other citizens.

Following the cleanliness drive, a tree plantation program was held at the Pratyush Bhavan campus in Chitrakoot Nagar under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Vishnu Sharma Hitaishi. Participants planted Ashoka saplings to promote environmental conservation and encourage greater public participation in tree plantation activities.

Addressing the gathering, Shyam Sundar Joshi said tree plantation is essential for environmental protection and urged every citizen to plant and care for more trees to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.

Pankaj Kumar Sharma said Mahatma Gandhi's message of cleanliness and environmental conservation remains as relevant today as ever. He appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and actively participate in tree plantation and the long-term care of saplings to help build a healthier and more sustainable society.

The tree plantation program was attended by Ashok Rao, Mahendra Jat, Mahendra Singh, Asha Jat and Ramesh Purohit, among others.

Sharma said that after the event, Joshi departed for Dungarpur, where he is scheduled to address the district-level meeting of the Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Samiti on Wednesday to provide guidance on organizational matters.
