New Kota Range IG Harendra Mahawar Assumes Charge, Signals Strict Action Against Knife Crime and Cybercrime

Kota: Harendra Mahawar formally assumed charge as the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Kota Range, on Friday. After taking charge, he held a meeting with police officers and personnel and issued necessary directions regarding law and order, crime control, and police functioning.

Newly appointed IG Harendra Mahawar stated clearly that ensuring public safety, effectively controlling crime, and strengthening the policing system would remain his top priorities. He said that the increasing incidents of knife attacks in Kota city would be dealt with seriously and that a special campaign would be launched to curb such crimes. Police will maintain strict surveillance on anti-social elements and criminals, and stringent action will be taken against those possessing illegal weapons.

IG Mahawar also highlighted the important role of the media, saying that it serves as a bridge between the public and the administration by bringing regional issues and public concerns to light. He asserted that police personnel involved in corruption would face “100 percent action” and that corruption at any level would not be tolerated.

He further directed verification of coaching students residing in Kota who are not enrolled in any coaching institute. The police and administration will jointly investigate such cases, and if required, steps may be taken to send such students out of Kota.

Taking a tough stand on cybercrime as well, the IG indicated that special drives would be launched to curb online fraud, cyber scams, and digital crimes. Strict action would be taken against cybercriminals, he said.

IG Harendra Mahawar instructed officers to work with a spirit of teamwork and ensure prompt resolution of public grievances. Several senior police officers and personnel were present during the charge-taking ceremony. Following the appointment of the new IG, an atmosphere of enthusiasm was seen within the police department.
