Udaipur: The Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) successfully organised a one-day specialised workshop on ‘Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation’. The workshop aimed to familiarise doctors and medical students with modern treatment approaches and advanced techniques for managing complex ear-related conditions.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Richa Gupta, Head of the Department of ENT, and Professor Dr. S.S. Kaushik. Experts discussed various aspects of modern ENT surgery and provided participants with detailed insights into the latest treatment techniques.
Dr. Richa Gupta said the key speakers, Dr. Navneet Mathur, Head of the ENT Department at RNT Medical College, Udaipur, and Professor Dr. S.S. Kaushik of PMCH, demonstrated the complete surgical procedure of Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation through a live demonstration. Postgraduate students and faculty members also received hands-on training using models and simulators, enabling them to understand the practical aspects of the procedure.
Professor Dr. S.S. Kaushik explained that Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD) can cause ear blockage, fullness, pain, hearing difficulties and recurrent ear infections. Balloon dilation is a modern, minimally invasive technique used to widen a narrowed or blocked Eustachian tube, helping provide effective and long-lasting relief to patients suffering from chronic problems.
More than 80 ENT specialists, faculty members and postgraduate students participated in the workshop.
Congratulating the ENT department on the successful event, PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal, President M.M. Mangal and Dean Dr. U.S. Parihar said that practical training programmes of this nature enhance the skills of doctors and students while also helping patients in the region access modern and advanced medical care.
