Death Anniversary of Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri Observed

The death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Lal Bahadur Shastri was observed with deep respect and solemnity by the Udaipur Rural District Congress Committee.

On this occasion, Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes at the statue of Lal Bahadur Shastri located at Shastri Circle. Remembering his life and legacy, Udaipur Rural District Congress President Raghuveer Singh Meena said that Shastri ji’s life continues to inspire generations with its message of simplicity, honesty, discipline and unwavering commitment to national duty. He urged party workers and citizens to imbibe Shastri ji’s ideals in their personal and public lives.

He said that Lal Bahadur Shastri led the nation during challenging times and proved that true leadership is rooted in humility, integrity and moral courage. His life, he added, remains a guiding light for democratic values and public service.

Several Congress workers, including Arjun Lal Menaria, Om Meghwal, Dinesh Audichya, Hitendra Singh, Aziz Khan, Mahendra Damor and Kamlesh Patel, were present during the tribute ceremony.

In a separate programme held on Sunday at the Congress Media Centre, “Rakshabandhan,” located at Dhanmandi, floral tributes were also paid to Shastri ji’s portrait. Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and spokesperson Pankaj Kumar Sharma offered homage and addressed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that Lal Bahadur Shastri symbolised simplicity, honesty and steadfast dedication to the nation. By giving the iconic slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” he gave a new identity and dignity to India’s soldiers and farmers. Sharma emphasised that today’s youth should draw lessons of discipline, patriotism, truthfulness and sacrifice from Shastri ji’s life.

He further said that Shastri ji’s message of placing national interest above all else, even in the most difficult circumstances, is as relevant today as it was during his time. His life demonstrates that genuine leadership emerges from humility and integrity, not from power or privilege.

Sharma added that the Congress party remains committed to strengthening democracy, social justice and national unity by following the ideals and principles laid down by Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The programme was attended by Umesh Sharma, Kripa Shankar Mishra, Sajjad Khan, Narendra Sarraf, Naresh Sahu, Mohanlal Meghwal, Nitin Suhalka, Naresh Swami, Bharat Meena, Lata Meena and several other senior party leaders and workers, who collectively paid tribute to one of India’s most respected leaders.
