Udaipur. At a programme organized by the Inner Wheel Club at the Tribal College Girls’ Hostel, a strong message against the growing menace of addiction was conveyed. Senior physician Dr. P. C. Jain addressed the students and described tobacco as a “termite-like addiction” that causes severe damage before its harmful effects are fully realized. He referred to tobacco as the “sister of alcohol,” stating that together they cause immense harm to the body, family, and society.
During his presentation, Dr. Jain highlighted the ill effects of tobacco and alcohol and screened several educational films to create awareness among the students. He also shared simple home-based remedies and practical tips to help individuals overcome addiction.
On this occasion, 11 hostel students were designated as Anti-Addiction Ambassadors, who pledged to spread the message that addiction is a disease and must be treated immediately. The students further reinforced the message by presenting an anti-addiction dance performance, which was well appreciated by the audience.
The programme was attended by Inner Wheel Club President Smt. Chandrakala Kothari, Secretary Smt. Babita Jain, along with Smt. Rashmi Pagaria, Dr. Alpana Jain, and other members.
The event was organized at the Government College-Level SC Girls’ Hostel, under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Udaipur.
The students who became Anti-Addiction Ambassadors included Renuka Rao, Kritika Mondiya, Hina Khatik, Sejal Meghwal, Hemlata, Bhavika, Nikita Ahari, Maya Mittal, Kajal, and Kiran.
