District Selection Rapid & Blitz Chess Tournament Inaugurated in Udaipur

The “Udaipur District Rapid & Blitz Selection Trial Chess Championship 2026”, organized by the Udaipur Ad-Hoc Committee of the District Chess Association, was inaugurated on Saturday at St. Anthony School, Sector-4, with the Blitz matches. The opening ceremony began with the traditional “Chaal Chalakar” move.
Tournament Coordinator and Director Sonika Jain informed that the championship is being conducted in two formats—Blitz and Rapid. The Blitz rounds were played on Saturday, while the Rapid rounds are scheduled for Sunday. Nearly 100 players from across Udaipur district are participating in the event.
This tournament is being held as a district selection trial, where the top two players will earn the opportunity to represent Udaipur at the state-level chess championship.
The competition is being conducted under the supervision of Chief Arbiter Neelesh Kumawat, with Associate Arbiters Nandan Kumawat and Siddharth Jain assisting. The tournament follows FIDE rules in their entirety.
The total prize fund for the championship is ₹26,100, with awards to be distributed across various age groups and categories. Players have shown high enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the event. The closing ceremony and prize distribution are scheduled for Sunday evening.
