Udaipur,  A significant development at Rajasthan Vidyapeeth has brought the ongoing leadership issue to a decisive conclusion, with Chancellor Bhawan Lal Gurjar emerging at the centre of a consensus reached in the interest of students and the institution.

Following the High Court proceedings on August 20 and 21, both sides reached an understanding aimed at protecting the academic interests of students and ensuring institutional stability. As part of the settlement, Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot submitted his resignation electronically before the court on August 21, with the resignation treated as effective from August 15, 2026.

Consequently, Prof. Manju Mandot assumed charge as Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth on August 16, 2026, marking the beginning of a new phase for the institution.

The development followed an order issued by Chancellor Bhawan Lal Gurjar on August 14, under which Prof. Sarangdevot was relieved from the position of Acting Vice Chancellor. The order was subsequently challenged before the Jodhpur High Court.

During the proceedings, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth presented its position based on UGC regulations, institutional rules and available facts. With the larger interests of students and the institution kept at the forefront, the matter was resolved through mutual understanding, following which the court disposed of the case.

The resolution triggered a wave of appreciation among Vidyapeeth workers and well-wishers, who welcomed Chancellor Bhawan Lal Gurjar on his arrival in Udaipur from Jodhpur. Supporters greeted him with garlands and traditional uparna, celebrating what they described as a significant moment for the institution.

Addressing the gathering, Gurjar underlined that the development should not be viewed as his personal victory, but as a victory for the dedicated workers of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth. He praised their commitment, integrity and sense of responsibility towards the institution and called upon everyone to work collectively to take Rajasthan Vidyapeeth to greater heights.

Prof. Manju Mandot, after assuming charge, said that Rajasthan Vidyapeeth belongs to its dedicated workers. She credited their hard work, commitment and cooperation for the university’s recognition at both national and international levels. She emphasised the need for collective efforts to further strengthen the institution’s dignity, reputation and academic standing.

The development is being viewed as an important step towards institutional stability, continuity and a renewed focus on the academic interests of students, with Chancellor Bhawan Lal Gurjar’s leadership playing a pivotal role in bringing the matter to a consensual conclusion.
