Udaipur: Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) today launched a week-long Parthenium weed eradication campaign across all constituent colleges of the university, following directions from Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pratap Singh.

Student Welfare Officer Dr. Vikramaditya Dave said the campaign began at the university’s Administrative Office and Sports Complex premises. At the outset, Dr. Dave sensitized students about the harmful effects of Parthenium weed, commonly known as carrot grass. He explained that the weed not only affects crops but can also pose health risks to people who come into contact with it or work in areas where it grows.

Around 100 students participated in the inaugural drive. Plastic gloves and masks were provided to the students to ensure their safety while removing the weed.

Dr. Dave said similar eradication drives will be conducted throughout the week at all other constituent colleges of the university, with active participation from students and staff.

Vivek Meena, Som Shekhar Vyas, Dr. Kewal Chand, Jamna Shankar and Ganesh also participated in the campaign along with the students.
