Udaipur: A two-day farmer training programme on “Advanced Crop Diversification Strategies for Sustainable Agriculture” was inaugurated on August 19 in Jhadol tehsil under the Crop Diversification Project of the Directorate of Research, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur. The programme is being held from August 19–20, 2026.

The training aims to provide farmers with practical and scientific knowledge on crop diversification, soil health management, natural farming, weed and pest management, and improved production technologies for kharif crops.

Project In-charge Dr. Hari Singh explained the objectives and activities of the project and highlighted the importance of crop diversification according to local climate, soil and available resources.

Agricultural Research Officer Dr. Kuldeep Suthar discussed integrated pest and disease management and encouraged farmers to adopt safe, chemical-free farming practices. Assistant Agriculture Officer Ratan Lal Kumar emphasized soil health through crop diversification, proper residue management, organic matter and balanced fertilization.

Agriculture Supervisor Pushkar Paliwal provided guidance on natural farming and the use of locally available resources, while Agriculture Supervisor Cheena Dabi trained farmers in effective weed management.

Around 30 farmers participated enthusiastically on the first day. Experts also addressed farmers’ queries related to crop production, soil health, pests, diseases and sustainable farming practices.
