Sri Ganganagar: A “Drug-Free Brother” awareness seminar was organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Phusewala, under the Drug-Free Sri Ganganagar Campaign, being conducted under the leadership of District Collector Dr. Amit Yadav and District Superintendent of Police Harishankar.
Speaking at the programme, Vikram Jyani of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment emphasised the importance of staying away from substance abuse, particularly among young people. He said that Raksha Bandhan is not merely a festival of tying a rakhi but also represents trust, protection and responsibility between brothers and sisters.
He urged students and sisters to seek a meaningful promise from their brothers this Raksha Bandhan—to stay away from substance abuse and make healthy and responsible choices. He said the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan would be strengthened when brothers demonstrate their commitment to their families through responsible behaviour and positive values.
School Principal Jitendra Kaur said substance abuse not only affects an individual’s health but can also disrupt family happiness, undermine parents’ aspirations and weaken the trust of siblings. She stressed that every young person has a responsibility to stay away from addictive substances.
During the programme, Praveen Kumar and Sahiram led students in a collective pledge to remain free from substance abuse, raise awareness among their friends and family about its harmful effects, and actively contribute to making their village and community drug-free.
The workshop aimed to encourage students to make responsible choices and strengthen community efforts against substance abuse.
